Dating Websites are a place to find love, sex, and everything in between. As these websites become more venturous, members become more daring. Virtual dating continues to be a great way to meet people, but it has become more important than ever to be careful with your safety, identity, intention, and follow through. Here is some of the recent research on dating websites and virtual sex, and how they could change the future of your relationships.
Who’s Online, Doing What?
Two-thirds of members on cheating specific dating sites have played around with sexting and cyber sex, while over three-fourths have cheated on a serious relationship/marriage. Women appear to favor the safety of sexting, while older men (age 40+) favor the skin on skin contact of a physical affair.
Dating as an Occupation
A dating website called, What’s Your Price, has introduced capitalism into dating, allowing desirable singles to set their dollar amount for a night on the town. Members can ask for up to $200 per night, to be paid half up front, and the rest by the end of the date. Technology is creating many new ways to make money online, but if you can talk someone out of $200 to spend another $400 on a skydiving expedition, you must be doing something right!
Online Girls are Easy
Some interesting research in Canada suggests that women who participate in dating websites, are also more likely to participate in sexual risky behavior. Part of their theory relies on the fact that online relationships increase the trust and speed factor. This means people more likely to believe what they are told, and they will rush into the sexual portion of their relationships, without really knowing the other person. This has led to an increase in sexually transmitted diseases by as much as 288 percent in some age groups. To counter this effect, online relationship experts remind women that they shouldn’t drag first communications past three to five messages before meeting in a safe, public place. This helps keep their head out of the clouds, and the truth to the whites of his eyes.
Sexting Vs. Cheating
With the Weeny roast that has developed underneath Congressman Anthony Weiner as of lately, sexting has been receiving a lot of negative attention. It turns out from a recent study, it may not be as harmless as a lot of attached and married sexter’s would have their partner believe. The practice of sending nude photos or sex talking messages, is considered foreplay to the world of cheaters. In other words, the people drawn to this, are also the ones who participate in the majority of real, physical affairs.
Studies also claim, that while virtual relationships pose some amount of satisfaction, ultimately, we all want the comfort of a warm body at the end of the day. Seeking companionship from a virtual partner, is only a phone call from a roll in the hay. Sexting may not be an indicator for all cheaters, but it does make it more likely they will eventually test the waters. Dating website members who sext, are more likely to wander down the path of adultery. Be aware of this often ignored red flag in romance.
Siren Robots
It isn’t completely the person’s fault when they get caught up in a virtual affair, as sexy chat bots are making it more and more tempting. These virtual men and women wiggle in the corner of our computer screen, taunting us with the promise of fulfilling our needs, without the mess of emotional disappointment and excess baggage. While most people would scoff at these attempts, some researchers think this is only the beginning to human seduction by socially programmed robots.
One such researcher, David Levy at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands, claims the first marriage to an artificially intelligence robot is probably only 38 years away. It will most likely occur somewhere in Massachusetts, considering this area is also at the forefront of legalizing same-sex marriages. Studies suggest the connection people already have with their smart phones, is casually leading towards this type of infatuation. If you don’t want to get caught up in this new world, leave the SIM games and apps to the techies, focusing on the technology that matches humans to other humans.
