By design, wedding bands symbolize eternity and commitment. Their unending, continuous shape communicates that “Love never fails.” (1 Corinthians 13:8). However, while your love may be unending, it’s doubtful that your budget and the time you can set aside to shop are endless as well. This can make shopping for wedding bands stressful or even the topic of an argument. Shopping online can help to alleviate some of that stress and, if you shop carefully, you can find the perfect rings, sometimes at a better price.
But where do you start? Google “buy wedding bands online” and you get 15,800,000 hits. How do you narrow down your choices?
First, ask the right questions before you begin to shop. Before you or your soon-to-be spouse starts to seriously look at wedding bands online, clarify what you’re looking for by considering:
- What’s our style? Is it simple or ornate? Classic or trendy?
- Do we want our rings to match?
- Are we looking for rings with stones?
- Do we want to have our rings engraved?
- What’s our price range?
After you’ve answered those questions (and agreed about what you’re looking for!) you’re ready to start some serious hunting … and ask some more questions, this time about where you’re buying:
- Is it high-quality? Wedding bands symbolize a lifetime of love, so it’s important that they last! Quality is arguably the most important aspect in selecting wedding bands.
- Does it fit our style? If you did your homework before shopping, you’ll have at least a vague idea of what you’re looking for. Since you’ll be wearing them every day, make sure that your wedding rings don’t clash with what you usually wear. For instance, if you usually wear silver jewelry, a white gold or platinum band is probably a better pick than one in yellow gold.
- Are we getting a good value? Don’t be afraid to shop around to be sure that you’re getting a good deal for your hard-earned cash. A wedding band is an investment, and you want to be sure that you’re investing wisely.
- Do the wedding bands come with a warranty? What happens if a stone falls out or a ring is found to be defective? It’s important to know what will happen if your perfect ring turns out to be not so perfect after all.
- Have others been satisfied with the service they received? If reviews are available about a particular retailer or product, read them. They can give useful insight into how you’d be treated.
Online jewelers can be fantastic places to shop for a wide selection of wedding bands. Asking the right questions before and while you shop online can help you find the wedding bands that will represent your love for a lifetime.
